after three months...

My last entry was three months ago. Nothing much has happened since then. My life has been fairly typical of a med student
(social life --> very limited). And just so that I could put something in my blog...I decided to post this song, which really says a lot about how I'm feeling at the moment, emotionally, that is. You see, I've learned to compartmentalize already so this part of me may not be all that giddy, but I'm still generally in a happy, contented state of exhaustion. (",)

MAN ON THE SIDE
By John Mayer

Six numbers, one more to dial
Before I'm before you tonight
I tried to call, been busy all night
Gave up waiting at daylight

Excuse me, Mrs. Busybody
Could you pencil me in when you can?
Though we both know that the worst part about it
Is I would be free when you wanted me
If you wanted me

I am the man on the side
Hoping you'll make up your mind
I am the one who will swallow his pride
Life as the man on the side

One of the many
One of the few
To stand back and wait for you
Excuse me, Mrs. Busybody
Could you pencil me in when you can?
Though we both know that the worst part about it
Is I would be free when you wanted me
If you wanted me
If you wanted me

I am the man on the side
Hoping you'll make up your mind
I am the one who will swallow his pride
Life as the man on the side
Life as the man on the side

I fell in love with the dream that I built of you
Playing the part of the queen
Taking my own advice, I'm giving up tonight
Good luck to you and the king

Excuse me, Mrs. Busybody
Could you pencil me in?
Though we both know that the worst part about it
Is I would be free when you wanted me
If you wanted me
If you wanted me
I am the man on the side
Hoping you'll make up your mind
I am the one who will swallow his pride
Life as the man
You know, life as the man
Living life as the man on the side

Pasensya na, todo drama to haha. But I decided that it's about time I set myself free. This is the last time I'd be doing this (sana...dapat), so please bare with me.

Schedule ng Fete de la Musique

Dizizit my dear friends! Sana makapunta naman ako this year. Kitakits! :-)

Fete de la Musique 2005
June 18, 2005 Saturday 4pm Onwards
El Pueblo, Ortigas Center
Sponsored by: Alliance Francaise de Manille

Fete de la Musique is now a much-awaited annual
international music
festival. It started in France in 1982 - an idea of
former French
Minister of Culture Jack Lang. The objective was
pretty simple - to
celebrate the upcoming of Summer by inviting
musicians, amateurs and
professionals, to perform for free in public places
like parks,
streets, railway stations, museums, and so on. This
idea soon became
very popular, and thanks to our cultural network of
French Embassies,
French Cultural Centers and Alliance Franaises, Fte de
la Musique is
now celebrated in more than 120 different countries.
All these
musicians playing simultaneously on the same day, in
so many different
places, certainly makes it the biggest multi-cultural
festival in the
world.

yehey! I always wanted to be Nightcrawler!

Ang fun! Favorite ko talaga yung powers ni Nightcrawler, kahit pangit siya, cool naman! :-) I wonder how it's like to have blue, scaly skin...

You scored as Nightcrawler. History
Kurt Wagner, alias Nightcrawler. Son of Mystique; father unknown. [Note: Father in comics was Count Eric Wagner, who died under mysterious circumstances; this has not yet been revealed on the show.] Mutated during infancy, presumably even more than he was at birth, by Magneto. Upon discovering her son's condition, Mystique fled into the woods with Kurt. She was chased by wolves, as well as Magneto, and cornered on a bridge. The baby Kurt fell from her hands into a river, whereupon he floated for a while until a farmer fished him out of the water.

The farmer and his wife treated Kurt like their own son. He lived with them throughout his childhood, never knowing who his real parents were. He performed with a circus for most of his childhood, until his powers began to become more prominent, at which point he travelled to the Xavier Institute.

Profile
Kurt's abilities include teleportation, exceptional agility and acrobatic prowess, and a prehensile tail. He is the least normal-looking of all the X-Men, with a pointed tail, pointed ears (some would say elf-like... or Vulcan-like, depending on how you look at it), three-fingered hands, two-toed feet, and fine blue fur.

Despite his appearance, Kurt is the definitive Mr. Nice Guy - kind, sensitive, jocular, and enthusiastic about almost everything. But underneath this, he's a very vulnerable person, always conscious of his appearance. Though a holographic inducer allows him to blend in with normal teenagers, he's always aware that it could break down at any time. As if that weren't bad enough, the inducer does nothing to hide his physical characteristics, so he always has to take care not to touch anyone, lest they feel his fur or three-fingered hands.

Or his tail. Speaking of which, have you ever wondered where he holds his tail when he's at school, so that he won't hit anyone with it? Draped over his shoulder? Wrapped around his leg? Hmm. Also, have you ever thought about what a pain it would be to have only three fingers? What would it be like for Kurt to, for example, touch-type on a keyboard? Or how about playing the piano - I shudder to think of that one.

Let's now address a somewhat contentious issue - Kurt's age. Most sites will tell you that Kurt is fourteen or fifteen years old. This could be possible, were it not for the fact that he has, on more than one occasion, driven the X-Van (most notably in The Cauldron Part I). This would mean that he must be at least sixteen. "But wait!" I hear you cry. "What if the driving age in New York, the state in which Bayville is located, isn't sixteen?" This page should show you that it is, indeed, sixteen.

Lastly, have you ever wondered why there's a wisp of smoke left behind after Kurt teleports? I looked it up, and it turns out that it's part of the atmosphere from the dimension through which he travels while teleporting.

For Myka

Myks, dahil wala kang chatterbox, kailangan ko tuloy magsulat dito. Shucks na-depress ako...I got so low sa quiz mo. :( I don't know why. I kept on changing my answers tapos as always, my first guesses were correct. Ang eps! Anyway, I hope this won't ruin our friendship...charing! Nakaka-bother, I felt so confident I would get a good score. Ugh... (haha ang sama talaga ng loob ko...this just shows how much i love you!) I hope to see you soon though, before you leave. mwah!!!

Ang Ilaw at Megaphone ng Buhay Ko =)

Here's me and my beautiful mommy. Mothers' day is always a special occassion for us, maybe because my mom insists on being the star of the day and we all gladly comply to her wish (dahil one day lang naman hehe). My siblings and I bought her flowers last monday since it would be nice to have flowers to stare at the whole week (tsaka di pa super mahal) and of course, we went shopping! Siyempre yun ang ginawa namin coz it's my mom's favorite activity. Bummer lang coz the Dairy Queen in Shangri-La closed already, she would've enjoyed a free Blizzard from me...tsk, tsk. I hope you and your moms had a wonderful day as well. =)

what I've been up to lately

It has been 2 weeks and a day since I started my first ever real job. Sadly, I have nothing extraordinary to say about it. I guess it somehow is sort of like my life so far- routine with a few perks in between. I’m not complaining though. The pay is not proportional to the workload (syempre I think that I should be getting more) but heck, it beats having no money at all for the summer. I’m just bummed that I have to get up early even if I’m technically on vacation. Baka kaya rin ako nag-med, it’s so that I’ll have an excuse to wake-up late till I’m 25 cause I’ll still be a student by then…hurray for me!

FYI pala, for those who haven’t heard yet, I’m working as a tutor/teacher at a review center near our house. I just decided to get a summer job the same day I applied and got hired, so it was probably meant to be. I didn’t even know how to make a resume, so I surfed the net for self-help guides to making a resume look successful. But I was able to get myself a job in less than 12 hours so I’m pretty proud of myself haha. :)

I just realized though, that keeping the job is 100 times harder than actually getting it. I literally have to drag myself out of bed after the nth snooze every single day. May countdown na nga ako til my last day, which is just 19 work days away. On my 3rd day at work, I dreamt of having an office job someplace that resembled the review center and I woke up with a scowl on my face and almost in tears. Ngayon ko lang na-realize na ganon ko pala ka-ayaw mag-work sa office, buti na lang I chose a different path. So now I have a deeper respect for those who do. Sabi ko nga kay EJ, those people who have been working in the same office for the longest time must be really cool people. I mean, they were able to humor themselves through years of paperwork and meetings di ba? Amazing!

Anyway, so that’s what I’ve been doing these past few days aside from my revived addiction to Korean telenovelas (shucks…di ko na-expect na maganda pala talaga ang Lovers in Paris) and my pathetic attempt to keep up with my 2 to 3 books-per-week reading goal. Take note: wala na namang exercise/health plans involved. I’m a slob period. I want to but I can’t, my bed is just too tempting to pass up. Totoo ngang the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Last na lang promise, excited na ko for ALMOST FAMOUS 3!!! I miss Ablir’s voice so much. (ahem, kasi di naman ako binibisita pag may pasok…sniff) I hope to see you all there! :)
